Now if you follow me on instagram you will probably know I had a brunch epiphany at the weekend courtesy of Cox and Baloney based here in Bristol. Normally I'm very much a creature of habit and stick to what I know when it comes to food due to my intolerances, nut and lactose, but the weekend had me venturing into the world or avocado, tofu and chilli and I can't wait to go back.
Once I had slowed down on feeling like Alice in Wonderland it was definitely time something screamed eat me and drink me, so that's exactly what I did. Here is what I sampled:
Food
Home made Porridge with seasonal toppings of date sauce, apple & blackberries (vg available)
Scrambled Tofu 'eggs' with Spinach, Avocado and Tomato on Sourdough Bread (vg)
Pancake of the Day - Wholemeal Pancakes, with coconut cream, banana and raspberries
Crushed Avocado with Chilli, Feta Cheese and a Poached Egg served on Sourdough Toast (v)
French Toast made with Free Range Eggs topped with clotted cream or yoghurt, fresh berries and honey (GF available)
Tea
Mr Darcy English Breakfast Tea
Lord Earl Afternoon Earl Grey Tea
The lovely ladies, and maybe some secret gentlemen, at Cox and Baloney blend their own brand loose leaf tea and coming from a non-tea drinker it's quite a big thing for me to say but I could have happily sat there all day and guzzled away. When accompanied by the food I could have stayed all week but I'm not sure they would have had me. Brunch felt clean and revitalising and set me up for some Sunday afternoon shopping. I can't wait to go back to try some of their Gin teapot cocktails, hopefully on gin and cheese night, and their afternoon tea.
