Until a few weeks ago polo was an event that in my head only people who were likely to feature on Made in Chelsea or royals went to. It felt like an event which wouldn't show up on my social calendar and then along came Polo at the Manor at Celtic Manor in South Wales.
My outfit was planned and then the day came and my sensible white jeans and floral off the shoulder top with wedges seemed rather inappropriate for the 32 degree heat. Then hit the typical so many clothes and nothing to wear panic, everything was too short or not smart enough and I ended up throwing on a navy dress I had worn to a wedding last year as it was lightweight. It turns out the navy probably wasn't my smartest colour choice. I combined this with flat espadrilles to help me show off what I knew would be pro diveting skills and my Aspinal of London handbag that I am just in love with.
Polo itself is a sport that I think I could come to really enjoy once I've got to grips with the rules a little better. From my one experience I've worked out that each match has 2 teams of players and 7 minute long chukkas with 3 minute intervals between each. Ends change after each goal is scored and there can be whole and half points scored. The winning team is the team with the highest number of points at the end of the match.
Have you ever been to the polo? What did you think?
