Lifestyle | A Chilled Valentines at Home

Cosy Valentines Day at Home Pink Pretty Little Thing Bralet Flat Lay with Roses and Candles

Valentines is an odd celebration. Personally I don't like the idea of making people feel obliged to spend money and show someone that they love them on that one particular day each year. I think you could do it any day of the year and make someone feel really special. Love is for life, not just Valentines. That being said, I do love the idea that people who may have secret crushes find the courage on v-day to send a card or confess their feelings. I guess that's just the hopeless romantic in me. I also don't shun a little attention because it's flattering and a great pick me up.

This year myself and J are celebrating a little bit later and with a chilled night at home. In our new home, that we moved into last friday, I know, I'll stop going on about it eventually. Maybe. Now we're celebrating late because J is working away over actual valentines itself and to be honest, it's much easier to celebrate at the weekend rather than after work. Our night in will feature one of our first proper meal cooked in our new home, instead of a takeaway as per the other nights, some wine, and a good cuddle on the sofa in front of the TV, if we can ever get it working. We currently have 7 channels which mainly consist of ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and their +1's.

It might not be the most exciting way to celebrate but it's probably one of my favourite ways. It means we don't have to stress about paying over the odds for a set valentines day menu in a restaurant full of other loved up couples and we don't have to pay three-times the price for 12 roses which are less than a fiver for the rest of the year. I mean we're grown ups with a mortgage now, right? Although if anyone does fancy a real bargain, Aldi are selling 100 red roses for £25.

I'm still an advocate of that Valentines shouldn't be so focused on spending it with 'the one' or someone you hope will be 'the one'. I think it should be about spending it with those you love, including friends and family and most importantly thinking about you. Last year I wrote a post about learning to love yourself for Valentines and I still stand by this 100%. So as part of our cosy night in I'm planning on having the longest bubble bath with my favourite candles, putting on some lingerie that makes me feel good about myself and maybe eat a few yummy chocolates. On actual v-day I'll probably pop round and see my mum and brother.

Cosy Valentines, Black Pretty Little Thing Bandeau Lace Bra in Flat Lay

I saw this lingerie from PrettyLittleThing and I knew that I wanted it.

This black strapless bra drew me in. I recently lost a beloved member of my bra collection to the dreaded underwire poking through and knew I needed to replace it and this bra was more than perfect. The long-line lace detail under the bra flatters my body shape and helps to project the illusion that my stomach is flatter than it actually is.

My other lingerie treat was chosen because I am just drawn to pink at the moment and soft bra's are just too comfy to resist. Not only is this one super comfy, read I don't instantly want to take it off as soon as possible, it's absolutely gorgeous too. I feel confident in it, sexy and feminine.

Now excuse me while I chill my large glass of wine and chill on the sofa in my new favourite cardigan and lingerie. My only dilemma is that I have to pick, pink or black!
