Fashion | Spring 2018 Trends You Need to Know

So as I'm sat here writing this (Sunday) The Beast from the East 2.0 has just hit Bristol and outside it a snowy, slightly slushy, picture of white. If I'm honest I'm pretty bored of this cold weather now. I want spring flowers, warmer temperatures and blue skies. Most of all I want to be able to wear the spring clothes that I've been buying without risking my nipples slicing through them from the cold.

This year winter feels like it's lasted forever. Maybe that's why I'm so excited for the new trends. Here are my favourites for the season.

Earn Your Stripes

Now I know stripes aren't exactly a breakthrough for spring 2018 but the way they are being worn is different from the classic breton t-shirt. Think striped trousers, wearing multiple stripes together and clashin directions. I picked up the Stradivarius mules from ASOS for less than £20 last week, which is a total bargin, but I just fell in love with them instantly. I actually thought to myself that they were very The Londoner. Below are some of my other favourite striped pieces which I sure will be making their way into my wardrobe. probably when J isn't looking.

Over The Rainbow

The rainbow trend is embracing all of the colour, all together. And I'm loving it. There is something that just puts a smile on your face when you see/wear the rainbow trend. It's also ticking off stripes too in most cases. I personally fell in love with the trend through Holly Willoughby who loves to wear the rainbow, with my favourite being the £1,400 Ashish glitter rainbow dress she wore on Jonathon Ross last year.

Lilac

Spring always features pastels. It's mandatory. This year the pastel colour to invest in is lilac. Maybe it's because unicorns apparently are found within the lilac woods and unicorns seem to be everywhere recently. Honestly I'm loving it unicorns or no unicorns. One of my favourite ways to wear the trend has been through tailoring - which M&S has really perfected this season with their Limited Collection.

Natural Bags

Natural bags are going to be big this season. Bamboo, Straw, Woven - if it's natural then it's in. Team with leather detailing, macrame or pom poms to make it practical and pretty.

Polka Dots

I am going dotty for polka this spring, and so is everyone else. I really want need the green spot sundress from Glamorous at ASOS below and I've also had my eye on the jumpsuit from Miss Selfridge for a while. Combine with ruffles for a flirty feminine look or rock a polka trouser for more of a statement.

Clueless Checks

Cher Horowitz would be in her element with the checks trend this season and her iconic yellow co-ord would not look out of place this season. I'm loving the grey Prince of Wales style out there at the moment as I find it's more subtle for work and everyday, but I do have my eye on a few of the Missguided co-ords in tribute to Cher.
