Every season there is a hero print. Summer was all about the polka dot and now that the skies have turned grey and the winds have changed there's a new print in town and it's taking over. It's official, animal print is BIG this season.
Personally I think leopard is the way forward. I can't actually go shopping without picking up something a little bit leopard, be it a belt, scarf, dress, shirt or shoes. But if leopard isn't making you go spotty then snake is another big hitter.
Now you're all probably thinking in the back of your head, but how do I avoid going a little bit Kat Slater and channel Jackie Kennedy instead? The line between classy and trashy can sometimes be narrow and blurred in people perceptions. Here are my top tips for how to invest and wear leopard print this season.
The New Neutral
You have to treat leopard print as a neutral. There is a leopard print to suit every skin tone and every colouring and it looks pretty darn amazing with almost every colour palette. You just have to find what works for you. Personally I prefer items with more brown tones instead of the yellow as this works better with my skin tone and hair colour.
Material Girl
The material of your items can speak volumes when choosing leopard print. Try a silky flirty midi skirt or a thick cotton tee. Cheaper fabrics tend to shout 'trashy' and can easily look inexpensive.
Leopard Skin
Try and stay away from tight-fitting pieces and look for more elegant and feminine cuts. Try a tailored blazer to add a pop to your work wardrobe. Topshop have a killer one out at the moment but i'd snap this up quick as it's pretty much a guaranteed sell out.
Leopard print is probably the only print you must invest in this season. It's a 'trend' that is quickly becoming a classic staple and if you do it right now, you'll be able to keep it for years to come.
